Change from Incandescent Bulbs to LEDs

February 1, 2012 4:40pm

‘You never change things by fighting the existing reality; to change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete’. Uttered by the philosopher Buckminster Fuller, these words bear particular application to the global change from Thomas Edison’s incandescent light bulb to the Light Emitting Diode. The world wide move towards low-energy lighting technologies represents just one facet of the greater importance now being attached to the environment, a phenomenon which has its roots in the recognition that the world’s resources are by no means finite. First articulated in the 1970’s, the slogan “Ecology is the new economy” is progressively gaining prominence, as can be witnessed in the recent politically sanctioned transition from the incandescent bulb to the more efficient LED.

The gu10 light bulb is one option amongst many in the world of Light Emitting Diodes. A truly fantastic light bulb, anyone who purchases it is making a long term investment both personally and for the environment. A salute to all those with gu10 light bulbs and to those who go on to purchase them.
